What's New
On the page called Parents, there are Reading Strategies we are working on in class. These are the things we do when we come to a word we don't know. Notice that "Sound it out" is not the first strategy we teach children to use. There are lots of more effective things they can do before sounding out a word. You can also find the "Goldilocks Test" which is a set of questions students can use to determine if the book they are reading is a "Just Right" book. It is important for students to read books at their level to increase fluency and become better readers.
